Parc Uchaf is 35 minutes from the historic Roman city of Chester with its excellent shopping and tourist sites and 30 minutes from the part medieval county town of Shrewsbury.  Both places are easily accessible by road or by train from the local station of Gobowen which is 3 miles away.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

The cottages are just a few hundred yards from Offa’s Dyke, the famous Welsh Border path that runs for over 180 miles from the North Wales coast to Chepstow in South Wales.  There is also spectacular walking in the Berwyn hills, around Lake Vernwy and the Clun Valley in South Shropshire.



Powys Castle, Chirk Castle, Erddig House are all fine National Trust properties within 30 minutes and offer a variety of interest for all ages. Ironbridge gorge, the cradle of the Industrial Revolution is within 1.5 hours.

For those with sporting interests there is excellent trout fishing (by arrangement) on a local pool.  Park Hall Farm museum, Llangollen Steam Railway and museum and the Shropshire Union canal are all within 30 minutes drive from Parc Uchaf and will ensure that visitors have a great day out.

For the golfer there are at least 4 courses within 20 minutes drive.  The area is also a birdwatchers paradise and spotted woodpeckers, red kites, nuthatches, buzzards, little grebes and many more can be seen in the area.  (see www.oswild.org)
